On January 16th, we kicked off our first annual joint fundraising breakfast with Raising Special Kids. The event, held at the Grayhawk golf club, was well-attended and a huge success! Proceeds from the event will be used to fund our club’s signature project, Special Day for Special Kids. A special thanks goes out to Alli Roth, Dave Lewis, and everyone else who helped make the event a success!
On January 23rd, our club was presented with two awards from the District for 100% participation in giving to the Rotary Foundation and the Every Rotarian Every Year initiative for the 2018-2019 Rotary year. Our club was one of only 3,000 clubs out of 33,000 that received these awards. Our speaker was neuropsychologist Dr. Daniel Blackwood, PhD. Dr. Blackwood discussed his work relating to sports-related traumatic brain injuries and concussion protocols.
This week our speaker will be Oramel Skinner, Arizona State Solicitor General. The primary responsibility of the Solicitor General’s office is to represent the State’s interest before the Supreme Court. There will be a SDSK committee meeting immediately following our regularly scheduled club meeting.
