On Thursday, April 15th, we had 19 participants for our club’s bi-monthly Zoom/Hybrid meeting. We had some new faces in attendance and had a delicious breakfast catered by the Hyatt! Our Speaker was Dale Gray of the Scottsdale Rotary Club. Amazing all the things Dale has done but focused on a current Grant project for the Phoenix Dream Center. The Center’s mission is to stop human trafficking, end childhood hunger and educate tomorrow’s leaders. It was a real eye-opener to see how the money will be used to convert former hotel rooms into live-able spaces for these victims. I have included Dale’s PP presentation. Rotary Week of Service (Success!)

Members met at Vista Del Camino Park on 4/17 with garbage bags and pinchers in hands. We cleaned up garbage in and around the lake and had a great time as well. We had a few close calls trying to reach for debris in the lake but we all stayed dry (mostly). Our AG Linda Fulmore stopped by as well as Governor Elect Bret McKeand. Big thank you to Dale for coordinating this project. Many patrons of the park thanked us along the way!

 

Club Updates:

•Our International Committee pledged a total of $500 to two (2) projects at the USA/Mexico Friendship Conference. We are proud to announce we have officially committed $250 to the Healthy Drinking Water for Schools Project in Veracruz, Mexico and to the Dream Center Remodeling Project!

•We are proud to announce we are sponsoring Octayyvia Manning through The Rotary Vocational Fund of Arizona. Octayvia is a single mother who also has custody of her two younger sisters. She will be attending East Valley Medical College to begin her CNA program!

 

“Hybrid” Meeting

Another great hybrid meeting! We are scheduled for a Hybrid meeting (In-person & Zoom) next Thursday (04/29/21) again at the Hyatt House in Old Town Scottsdale (4245 North Drinkwater Blvd, Scottsdale, AZ 85251. I have booked the large meeting room again. I will send additional meeting instructions and Zoom information.
